Medium Labradoodles
Medium Labradoodles are a great companion dog that will run with you in the park, swim with you in the lake or pool and also be just as happy to curl up at your feet. They are playful, intelligent and easily trainable, and that's why this breed is skyrocketing in popularity in recent years.
Does this sound like a dog you would like to add to your family? At Stargazer Labradoodles, all of our dogs are raised in a family atmosphere in our California home. We believe that a family environment is just as important in shaping how a puppy will grow up as it is for a human. That's why your future puppy's parents are both on site – that way we know the characteristics that your puppy will possess.
Medium Labradoodles will generally grow between 17-20 inches and up to 35 pounds, with females usually slightly smaller than the males. These dogs do require some exercise, as any dog, but they are not hyper or noisy. Labradoodles make decent watchdogs but are not aggressive at all. They are great with kids – and they will be around them at our home as they mature in their first eight weeks – and hypo-allergenic. That last fact has made them incredibly popular to that segment of the population that suffers from allergies and couldn't ever have a dog. In fact, we got our first Medium Labradoodle because our son has asthma, and we loved the breed so much that we wanted to share them with other families, which is how we got started in this business.
Basically, a Labradoodle is mix of a Poodle and a Labrador, and in many ways the Labradoodle has taken on the best characteristics of both of those breeds. They have the great temperament and playful personality of a Labrador and are easily trained and hypo-allergenic like a Poodle. Thus you truly have a great family dog, one with a gentle personality but willing to go be play if asked while also being great for allergy sufferers. In fact, that's the origin of this breed back in the late 1980s in Australia - as a seeing-eye dog but one that was hypo-allergenic. Today Labradoodles' use as therapy dog is on the rise.
Our Medium Labradoodles are multi-generational, which means they are pure. You may be asking if your puppy can be registered, but currently these hybrids are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, etc. We think that's just a matter of time!
So what do you think? Are you ready to add a Medium Labradoodle to your family? With its gentle nature and patience, you will have no worries with this pet around your kids. And it's not overly big, so it won't destroy your home, although it does need some exercise. This breed is overall healthy and usually has a life expectancy of between 13-15 years.
They do have a few coat types, generally a fleece type (soft and wavy), wool (tighter curl, like a Poodle) or one that is like Labrador coat. These dogs also come in many colors.
If you are interested, we require a $500 non-refundable deposit for puppy, and we do sometimes have a waiting list. We charge $2,500 for these dogs, which you will find is very competitive among breeders. That includes full delivery anywhere in the United States or Canada.
